AThis Japanese cargo vessel of approx 30,000 tonnes was sunk by the American Navy in 1945. She lies on her port side in 27m of water. The holds are cavernous and easily accessable. The wreck is situated between the Alava pier and the International Airport.
The middle of this wreck is a mess, compared to the relatively intact holds, bow and stern. Access can be gained through the aft hold, along the propshaft tunnel and on to the engine-room bulkhead. At this point, light is good. Towards the deck, everything has collapsed and does not allow any access to the remains of the superstructure.
You will find jacks, spotted sweetlips and coral trout among other species here.
